Senior Software Engineer
Location: New York City (Flatiron, Manhattan)
Onsite Policy: Full-time onsite (5 days/week)
Comp & Benefits: $130K - $200K base + 0.1% - 0.5% equity + healthcare + in-office meals
This company is building the modern safety infrastructure for the physical world.
Every day, millions of teachers, nurses, retail employees, hotel staff, and frontline workers operate in environments where safety incidents can have life-altering consequences. Existing workplace safety systems are fragmented, outdated, and often fail when they are needed most.
The platform combines AI-native software, real-time location intelligence, rugged IoT hardware, and modern cloud infrastructure into a unified solution designed to protect people and save lives.
Founded by operators from leading technology and hardware companies, the team has already deployed hardware and software systems across schools, universities, healthcare environments, and workplaces nationwide. With a team of 15 and a Series A financing round nearing completion, they are positioned to define an entirely new category in workplace safety technology.
This is not a feature factory role inside a large organization.
You'll work directly with the founders, CTO, and early engineering team to shape the future of a mission-critical platform where uptime, reliability, and product quality matter deeply. Engineers own products end-to-end and have direct influence on architecture, technical direction, customer experience, and company strategy.
What You'll Own
Build and ship customer-facing features across the core safety platform using React, TypeScript, and AWS.
Design scalable systems that integrate real-time software with connected IoT hardware deployed in schools, hospitals, hotels, and workplaces.
Improve platform reliability, performance, and resiliency for safety-critical workflows where downtime is not an option.
Partner directly with customers to understand operational challenges and translate them into thoughtful product solutions.
Contribute to architectural decisions across frontend, backend, infrastructure, and platform scalability as the company grows.
Help define engineering culture, development standards, and technical best practices within a small, high-performing team.
What They're Looking For
4–7 years of experience as a Full Stack Software Engineer with strong ownership of production systems.
At least one year of experience in a startup or high-growth company environment where ambiguity and rapid execution were required.
Experience building products from zero-to-one or taking significant ownership of major product initiatives.
Strong proficiency with React, TypeScript, AWS, and modern web application development.
Engineers who combine strong technical execution with product intuition and customer empathy.
Ability to work across the stack and make meaningful contributions wherever the business needs support.
Experience with IoT, hardware-connected products, industrial software, robotics, mobility, logistics, or real-world systems is highly valued.
Evidence of excellence through high-caliber companies, notable technical achievements, top academic institutions, or entrepreneurial experience.
Technical Environment
React, TypeScript, AWS, IoT systems, cloud infrastructure, real-time location services, hardware-integrated software platforms, scalable SaaS applications, and AI-native workplace safety technology.
Ideal Backgrounds
Strong interest in candidates from:
- Early-stage startups (Seed – Series D)
- IoT and hardware-enabled software companies
- Engineers who have shipped products with significant customer ownership and business impact
- Product-minded builders with strong design instincts and customer empathy
- Teams operating in high-growth, fast-paced environments
Why This Opportunity Is Worth Your Time
Mission-driven company tackling a real-world problem impacting over 110 million American workers.
Hardware already deployed with paying customers across multiple sites nationwide.
World-class engineering team with backgrounds from top technology companies and leading universities.
Closing Series A financing with meaningful equity upside while significantly de-risked compared to typical early-stage startups.
Direct access to founders and technical leadership with substantial influence over architecture, product strategy, and technical direction.
Flat organizational structure with minimal bureaucracy and rapid decision-making.
Opportunity to build software that directly improves workplace safety and can genuinely save lives.
A rare chance to join a small, ambitious team defining the future of safety infrastructure at the intersection of AI, software, and connected hardware.
This is the kind of role where exceptional engineers get broad ownership, meaningful equity, and the opportunity to build technology that protects people every day.
