Principal Tech Lead - Digital Network Platforms

£116k basic + 25% bonus + £7,200 car allowance

 

Hybrid - Reading or London twice per week

 

We are working exclusively with a global telecommunications business who are looking for Principal Tech Lead in their Digital Network Platforms team.

 

Our client is the UK’s fastest broadband network, the nation’s best-loved mobile brand and, one of the UK's biggest companies too.

 

As the Principal Tech Lead you will act as the foremost technical authority and subject matter expert in transforming our clients OSS landscape. You will be pivotal in defining the technical direction, ensuring architectural alignment and definition of a standardised high velocity, high quality and cost-efficient software delivery framework that enables agility and meets the evolving requirements of our client’s Digital developer community.

 

You’ll be responsible for leading a team of highly skilled technical leads, fostering innovation, and driving delivery excellence. You will lead transforming the way our client’s work commoditising software delivery at speed whilst improving quality and reducing cost using both agile software delivery and platform engineering best practice.

 

You will also work in close collaboration with the Digital Network Products team delivering intuitive platforms to optimise developer experience enabling high value products.  

 

Required Skills & Experience

 

  • Demonstrated expertise in software development and system architecture within the Telco OSS domain.
  • Hands-on experience with various OSS platforms, including Cisco NSO, Itential, Rakuten, Digitata, Netcool, and Hyperscaler solutions like GCP.
  • In-depth knowledge of telecom industry standards, protocols, and technologies.
  • Extensive experience with DevSecOps practices, including test automation, CI/CD pipelines, source control, and driving cultural change.
  • Proven track record in transforming and implementing agile software delivery methodologies in the Telco sector.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Platform Engineering and its relevance to OSS.
  • Practical experience and thorough knowledge of public, private, and hybrid cloud providers, technologies, and services, as well as a solid grasp of data and application frameworks on the cloud.
  • Proficient in product journey management and its integration with platform development and design.
